Out of Damxung County, keep going northwestward about 60 kilometers, Namtso Lake is in front of you. The lake is clear and surrounded by rolling mountains, grassland and the blue sky. Fluttering white clouds, pure blue skies, kind Tibetans, quiet yaks, and antelopes scattered on the hills comprise the harmonious scenery.
It is said that there is a kind of romance called “Namtso” which is described as a tear on the surface of the earth. Namtso is a masterpiece created by God, the beauty of which is marvelous, spotless and unblemished. When you come here, you will be attracted and addicted to the pure and blue lake. In the distance, the snow-capped Mt Tanglha guards the sacred lake like a mighty warrior.
According to the legend, Namtso is the daughter of Indra(a guardian deity in Buddhism) and the wife of Nyenchen Tanglha. In the ancient Tibetan mythology, the Pantheon of Bon or Tibetan Buddhism, the folk songs and legends, Nyenchen Tanglha and Namtso are not only the holy mountain and sacred lake in Tibet. They are soul mates, as they are getting more and more magnificent and beautiful by associating together. The Mount Tanglha guard his beautiful wife stilly on the other side of the lake with his towering body for thousands of years. The Palms stone is a symbol of their undying love.
When you visit Tibet in summer and autumn and walk in the lake with bare feet, you will feel the limpidity and cool of the water. Every step you have in this lake is like a wonderful picture.
When you travel to Tibet winter and spring, the lake is frozen and everything around the lake is covered with snow. The ice crystals of the shoreline are dazzlingly brilliant under the sunlight, separates the yellow grassland from the turquoise water. The layers of snow and mountains shows the unique and harmonious tranquil beauty here.
When you come in the morning, the sun is rising and illuminating everyone’s heart. In the fluttering Sukata, you can open your arms and cheers, can let your blessings in the heart gone with the wind to the heaven.
When you come in the evening, the sun breaks through the thick clouds, then you can see the sunset over the lake. The snow-capped mountains in the distance are looming, and there is no body singing gracefully in a fishing boat, but there is the grand and magnificent scenery of sunset.
No matter how the season changes and the sun rises and sets, the only thing lasts forever is love.
If God asks lovers to make three wishes, the first one is to be with your lover in this life, the second one is to come with your lover in the future world, and the third one is to be with your lover forever and ever. If you have a chance to have a Lhasa tour, and stand by the Lake Namtso, lovers would have a strong feeling that these wishes can be fulfilled. If life was gone, you will continue to love the one in Samsara, if the promise was gone, you will continue to love the one in Namtso.
